Mab is Laughing Right Now by Metalarc09 Mab is Laughing Right Now by Metalarc09
Another meme. I just had to. I don't know how many DF fans know about Game of Thrones or how many Game of Thrones fans know about DF, but this could probably be enjoyed by both. To be honest I'm not really a big fan of Game of Thrones (in fact I really really do not like it). I've never seen the show but I read the first and most of the second book before it became a big deal, but I quit because I just didn't respond to it. Several of my friends are really big fans though and we joke about my anitifandom constantly, so this is just poking fun and I encourage any Game of Thrones fans to read Dresden Files and find out what I'm talking about, because it's awesome.

(tried to leave out any spoilers)

Game of Thrones belongs to the auther
Dresden Files belongs to Jim Butcher
First meme is concept of whoever created it
DF art belongs to Chris McGrath and Jim Butcher

Absolutely brilliant!  I'm a fan of both; however, I have to agree with Harry.

On the subject am I the only one that thinks Codex Alera is really similar to Game of Thrones. Its like Butcher took the idea, and upped the awesome by 2000%

haven't really considered that, but I agree that if it is Butcher made it better. I just like his style of writing and when he writes things don't seem so forced, like I'm writing a sex scene for the sake of writing a sex scene, when Butcher writes it actually has a purpose. If you look up some of his interviews on YouTube though he explains where Codex Alera came from. It was actually a bet with another author to combine two poor and overly done ideas and try to make a good story. The other author got to pick the two ideas and he came up with Pokemon and Lost Roman Legion. Think about it. Once you see the Pokemon, you can't unsee it.

While it did originate as a blending of those two, and yes the Pokemon are rather obvious in hindsight (as are the Zerg). But the overall style, structure, elements, and plot points are very similar. A fractious realm seemingly united under a single throne, but with a monarch with a slipping grasp on power. An inevitable civil war brewing between various lords over control of the throne, with others having other agendas, or just staying out of it. A massive wall guarding the entire northern border to protect against attack by beings of ice the arrive with blizzards. Factions across the sea with their own eyes for power over the region. All with the backdrop of an awakened ancient enemy no one believes is real, who exist to consume destroy all in their path.
The details are different, but the overall structure is very similar.

I generally say that the book is better than the movie, for Game of thrones is the other way around, so i recommend it, and I love Dresden ;) See my fanart please :P [link]

It's hilarious! I've just finished reading of Summer Knight, so far the best book of the series.
And I'm still laughing. :D

Heh, awesome. Would you mind if I posted this in 9gag or some similar sites? You know, to raise awareness about the DF, God knows it deserves it.

Hehehe. I like it. I am too tired to elaborate on the parallels of the series. Also, all the book names before Ghost Story are escaping my head right now, even though I could look them up and point out what I find funny.

As for the TV series, the music is fantastic and it's very pretty to look at if not for the good execution of the story.

Also, I try to spread the love for Dresden wherever I can.

Yeah, I laughed so hard I almost ruined my laptop and wasted perfectly good beer. AT THE SAME TIME!! Very well done. Yes, Dresden could teach those GoT monkeys a thing or two. Well done :D

Any other author seems to pale in comparison to Butcher. I can't really enjoy any other series now that I've read all the Dresden Files books up to date. D:

Winter is coming? Bitch, please! I lolled.

It's summer who you've got to watch out for. At least winter's up front. Summer sneeks round and sends it's billy goats after you.

You two just made my day. The unicorn is my favorite, and the Billy Goats, how epic of an author do you have to be to make the Billy Goats Gruff worth reading.

Reading both books, I can for certain that on the getting things done and moving the story along, Jim Butcher's story is superior. (hell's yeah)

However, Game of Thrones has its merits in its intrigue and its backstabbing and endless squabbles. So safe to say both entertain me on their own merits and thus I am a fan of both, one admitting greater then the other. (Dresden>GoT)

First off, I'm happy to know that there are fans of The Dresden Files out here on DA. I felt alone for a bit.

Second of all... um, can I get a hells yeah? Winter isn't coming, it comes and goes whenever it damn well pleases. Just ask Dresden.

Oh and at least Jim Butcher can get somewhere with his story. You can summarize most of the series with this. "There's a civil war going on, and people are backstabbing each other, while something ominous amasses somewhere and won't be relevant until the final book. Trust me, the payoff will be worth it."

Oh trust me, you're not alone on the DF front. There's some good DF art on here too if you know where to look. And I totally agree with you on Jim Butcher's awesomeness. His complex plot and story really amaze me. He doesn't just tell a story. He lets you jump into the book and experience it through his vivid writing and deep imaginative characters.

Having read both series I must concur, Mab wouldn't chip a perfect finger nail while ridding the world of anyone or thing from Game of Thrones.
There's simply no comparison! Sooo....Bitch Please!! Dresden Files all the way!
